The new airdrive design paves the way for future reel development at DAIWA and offers smoothness and sensitivity like you’ve never experienced before. By reducing the weight of the rotor, the coil and the bracket arm, easier rotation is created without initial resistance, thus ensuring optimal smoothness. The 22′ Exist is the first reel from the DAIWA program to be manufactured with the new Airdrive concept. The reduction in the weight of the rotor enables not only less effort to start but also a quicker stopping of the rotor and a quicker reaction to different retrieval speeds. With the new Airdrive spool, wall thicknesses and unnecessary weight have been reduced – in combination with the reduced rotor weight and reduced bail weight, the balance of the entire front unit of the reel is improved and offers better control when guiding the bait. Unlike the inner workings of conventional spinning reels, DAIWA has developed a low-contact structure between the axle and Pinion gear – the Airdrive Shaft. By implementing this technology, frictional resistance is reduced and silent, smooth running is optimized. The combination of these elements creates the new Airdrive concept and enables the construction of extremely light and sensitive spinning reels. The Airdrive bracket is the next evolution in bracket design and fits perfectly into the innovative Airdrive concept. DAIWA has designed a slightly thinner bracket that still offers the required resilience and contributes to additional weight reduction on the front part of the reel. Compared to the 18′ Exist, the weight of the new Airdrive bar is reduced by 33%. The Twist Buster technology reduces the risk of unwanted line tangles and line twists. For the 22′ Exist, the well-known Twist Buster II technology was improved in further details and the new Twist Buster III construction was developed. The new design reduces the flattening of the line when winding it and therefore creates significantly less line twist. A MagSealed line roller was also integrated into the 22′ Exist to permanently withstand the high load, especially when used in salt water.
